Jarl Gaut Johanson
Birth place: Licidfelth, Mercia
Born: 850AD
As an Anglo Danish child in Mercia, and constantly getting into trouble with the local Saxon Reeve, Gaut’s parents sent him north to relatives deeper into Northumbria.
En route he came across a small warband looking for warriors to hire.
Guat fought with this warband working his way through the ranks fighting under the Jarl Morkar Ullerson.
When Jarl Morkar Ullerson stood down, Gaut took his place as Jarl until the injuries of war started to take their toll, and the changing world around him, he stood down in favour his trusted friend Kveldulf, who Gaut is advisor to.
When not advising Kveldulf, Gaut spends his time on his large farm with his wife Seunn in the wapentakes of Sealhford in Northumbria. They have slaves who work the land for them and Gaut spends his time practicing combat in case he has to defend the land in the service of the king as well as working leather and spoon carving which helps him relax.
