Astrid is the eldest daughter of Jofrid. She grew up in her mother’s house near the river Treonta south of Djura-by on the border of Danelaw and the Saxon Kingdom of Mercia.

When Astrid met her husband Svend, who was in a warband returning north to Northumbria after a raid into Mercia, she went with him. They settled in the wapentakes of Hamestan on the southern banks of the river Mersey.

Astrid spends her days helping Revna Grithdotter with housework and cloth making, while their husbands are away fighting for the kings of Northumbria.
